Art and a Fresh Peach Pie!

I hung some more paintings at the Pannikin today and of course forgot to bring my camera. My nephew, sister, Art and I enjoyed the afternoon there, hanging out and drinking iced coffees. It felt like a perfect summer day.

I'll be pet sitting for the next week and a half and there's a huge peach tree loaded with ripe peaches. My friend told me to pick them while she's gone and make a pie or something. So as I stared at the bowl of peaches, I thought to myself, how hard is it to make anyway? It's got to be similar to making an apple pie minus the spices. So I decided to wing it. I used a pastry dough rather than pie crust and served it with some vanilla ice cream. Delicious!

My show is Up

Sorry about the fuzzy pictures. I was trying to be sly and snap them quickly without getting in the way or drawing to much attention to myself. I'll try to take some better ones soon. I think early morning would have the best lighting. It's crazy how these paintings look so big at my house and sooo much smaller at the Pannikin.

This week is already making my head spin. I have things I have to do and things I want to do, all pulling me in different directions. Here's my plan of attack for the next few days.
-hang show (done)
-ship orders (done)
- pet/house sitting for the next 11 days
- renovating our laundry room
- glazing ceramics
- painting
-custom orders
and the list goes on..........and on...........wish me luck.

Sunday Show and Tell

The weather was so nice that we decided to draw the Buddha statue in the garden. A good warm-up for drawing faces in the future. I've been wanting to do this for a long time, but it's just been too cold for the morning class.

Our weekend will be filled with fun, BBQ's and relaxation. Here's Blue and Eddie sending you their biggest smiles. These will quickly vanish, replaced by fear as the fireworks start popping tonight. ..........please keep your animals safe and indoors. Happy 4th of July.

Puppy visits the studio today

The newest member of the family. Not mine, but my sister Lara's. She has entered the life of a full-time pet parent and is enjoying the sleepless nights and 24 hour care that comes with the first stage of puppyhood. Just one look into his sweet google eyes and you're instantly transformed into a kooky crazy pet person who is unaware of the faces she's making. (yep, that would be me)
Look how proud Ethan is of his new cousin.

Candy Drop Necklaces

Finally, I got all the components I needed to finished making these necklace pendants. They're made with vintage 1950's glass cabochons and sterling silver. I was playing around with my camera and ended up with some decent sample shots considering the sun was starting to set. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow when it's a bit brighter out. I hope to have these available in my shop by friday.

A New Set of Urchins

Hope you all had a great weekend. I spent most of mine teaching, filling candle orders, painting and squeezed in a little birthday fun in there as well. My adorable nephew is officially 4 years old.

Since this summer has yet to feel like a normal summer, I thought I'd try to entice some warm weather with my sea inspired paintings. This set of three urchins were painted on birch wood panels. They come with a little keyhole carved into the back for super easy hanging. I'm loving the overall effect of painting on wood and can't wait to do some more soon. If you're in the area, you can see these along with many other recent paintings at the Pannikin in Encinitas. I'll be hanging my show July 6th.
