Class is back in session!

Today was our first day back after a wonderful holiday break. I was surprised to hear that these kids were missing my art class so bad that they were nagging their parents about the start-up date. Maybe I was the only one who enjoyed getting her Saturdays free for awhile?

Anyway, we are working on a very fun painting project. Both classes will be working together to construct a mosaic puzzle piece sort of painting. Above is the chalkboard rough draft of a tree. One student was absent, hence the missing square. Each student is in charge or their 12x12 section which will be on a separate canvas with a different color background. The tree along with several other images will be painted in a black silhouette. (eg. birds, mushrooms, hot air balloons, a kite, a clothesline, a squirrel, a ladder and swing etc....etc...) Eventually there will be so much going on in this painting that you really have to stop and stare at it for awhile to make everything out. They are really excited about this one and I can't wait to display it at the Pannikin on their student wall.
