It's already Friday!

This week has flown by waaaaay too fast. I still need to work on my costume, Art's costume, make a huge pot of tortilla soup, carve pumpkins, oh.....and buy candy.

I will leave you with a few more Halloween pictures I snapped around the house today to get you in the mood.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

So.....were you wondering what I'm going to be this year?
A voodoo witch doctor. I even made a voodoo doll of my dear sweet husband in case he gets out of hand at the party. Who you calling a control freak?

Sunday afternoon

My nephew stayed around after art class today to help me garden. We made a lot of starter succulents with all the cuttings we gathered around the property. He pulled this large spear out of the yard waste. They are those things that fall out of queen palms. It made a great boat planter don't you think? Would it be crazy to use this for a centerpiece this Thanksgiving? We'll see if it holds up.

Before and After

This cabinet was pulled out of my husbands friends garage just 3 days ago. It was FREE!!!!! I still can't believe it.

So for the past few days I've been priming, paintings, cutting a shelf to fit, replacing the hardware, and removing the ugly feet. My total investment was around thirty bucks. I wanted it to look like a vintage built-in cabinet for my bathroom which was in serious need of storage. !

Once I put everything inside it, I couldn't help but notice all the other sad spots in the bathroom that needed a little love. So I cleaned out all my drawers of make-up, lotions and hair products I never use. That stuff builds up fast people!
Have you looked at the shelves in your medicine cabinet lately? How often our we supposed to clean them? I swear they were clean........... until I REALLY looked at them.

Show and Tell

Just thought I'd share some custom work I've been doing lately before they ship off to their new homes.
A group of sea paintings on wood, wedding cake toppers and a 5 foot chickadee painting that will be traveling to the other side of the globe.
It's been pretty busy around here but I'm not complaining one bit. These were all really fun to do and my clients were so wonderful to work with.

Right now I need to focus on listing some new prints and also a few originals in the shop. Gotta get it stocked up and ready for the holidays.

Make your own concrete planter

I'm so excited to host this class and can't wait to get my hands dirty.

My friend Kassandra from Barrels and Branches has offered to teach a class on how to make her signature concrete planters that have been flying off the shelves. Each one is unique and different, made from vintage jello molds and planted with a variety of succulents. Would make great holiday gifts for all your friends/family/teachers etc. The pictures speak for themselves.
If you're local and interested in joining us, contact me and I'll fill you in on the details.

10-10-10

Today was the day that our friend proposed to his girlfriend on their favorite rock near Seaside Beach. After she said "Yes...(of course)" they continued down the beach for a sunset walk. She had no idea that just ahead was a private dinner tent for two.
Art and I spent the day running around, prepping and setting up, and in the end..... it was perfect. Tent, flowers, good wine and food from Vigilucci's. ( you can't go wrong)
We were dressed in black and white and played waiter and paparazzi.
The weather was amazing this weekend. Warm and clear skies, ideal for a romantic evening.

The two lovebirds spent the evening eating, drinking and kissing till dark. So dark it was a little hairy finding out way back around the bluff to the car.

Congratulations you two!

The end

Bowling?

Do people still do that?

HALLOWEEN!!!!

I am so looking forward to Halloween this year. We just finished putting out the majority of our decorations and I'm looking forward to carving the little pumpkins from the garden. I should probably go buy a couple big ones to add to the patch since they are on the dinky side.
This weather is so weird!
I was at the beach this weekend and now it's raining and I have a scarf around my neck! Guess it's almost time to start thumbing through soup recipes.
