I've been working on turning some of my sketches into paintings this week and thought I'd share my progress with you. The two square ones are 12x12 and the larger one is 24x30 inches. After painting the background and the glass jars, I drew on the goldfish and one puffer fish in pencil. The next step was to white them out with three coats of acrylic. This keeps the blue tones from messing with the orange color that will be added next. If you don't do this step, you would end up with a very dark muddier pumpkin color rather than the tangerine I'm going for. I hope to have more done as the week progresses.
Bobby is pretty excited about this one and has requested to have it hung over his cat bed.

Are you kidding? Was the cat picture staged? It's absolutely adorable and obviously he can tell the painting is of fish.
